Wish I had pics of Ashley's dance recital to share with you. Being a child of the 80's, I was totally excited that she was dancing to G N' R Welcome to the Jungle. There was a period of time Saturday night when I was having a hard time controlling the urge to take the hairspray and hairbrush. Ya know, sometimes you just need to tease the hair up high. It's like putting on an old pair of acid washed... ripped out holes in the knees...Jordache jeans.

One of my friends once sent me a post card with a picture of the entire planet Earth taken from space. On the back it said, "Wish you were here."

Not In Her Storm

I see the clouds rolling in and oh how it looks like rain

And it is always I; fight for the welcome change

When it rains it pours on this heart of mine

So, I take the storms I feel to her each time.

But I know she has lived under her own pouring rain

Yet under her water her heart still doesn't change

She can walk away from what hangs overhead

And, not in her sotrm, are words left unsaid.

Not in her storm have I ever felt alone

Her storm ends, so I, may find my way home

It's for me that she pushes away her own rain

So, that I may find comfort in calling her name.

She lives in this world for the sake of another's heart

God, how she eases the miles when we're worlds apart

And she never wanders when your world falls trough

Not ever in her storm would she do this to you.

She has wings that I know not only I can see

Cause only an angel could find strength to carry me

It's the way that the eyes can surley view

How her heart's written so clearly in what an angel can do.

I made Dona cry with this poem (this is Becky not Dona talking). I have a tendency to make a lot of people cry (not always on purpose). I gave this poem to Dona because she is my friend and I love her and I know Mother's Day is a hard time of the year for her even though she tries to act tough. Dona is one of those friends that I can always count on or unload my frustrations on (and she never tells me how stupid I am or what mistakes I am making). She loves me for who I am and that is the definition of what a friend really means.

I had a dream last name about Dona's Mom. Mind you I had never met her Mother , but she, Dona, my Mom, and myself all went to Luby's to eat. I got the blue plate special and Dona's Mom got liver and gizzards. I just remember Dona smiling the whole time and how happy we all were. When I woke up this morning I got onto the computer and wanted to find a quote to give her this morning to lift her spirits (along with a flower pot my stepson and daughter made with their fingerprints for her) and what I found was this poem. I decided to give it to her since I knew today would be a hard day because of how much she loved her Mom and especially because I know what relationships and family mean to her. This is what Dona is to me-my friend and little guardian angel and Dona's little angel (her Mother) wanted me to let her know she's watching over her now this Mother's Day.

I have to go now. I'm not letting her see what I type. I hope I don't make her cry again because I don't think she's wearing waterproof mascara.....Scary!!! I love you Dona. Happy Mother's Day (to a good Mother and great friend.....sometimes she acts like my Mom too)
